600 kits for drawing, writing and learning

An ongoing initiative with local collaborators for children in Caracas and La Guaira.

The goal

I am working on an initiative to assemble 600 educational kits for children in Caracas and La Guaira. Each planned kit brings together pencils, coloured pencils, a sharpener, drawing paper and a pouch. Six hundred is the project’s target.

The materials are simple, chosen for activities children can make their own: writing, drawing, colouring and trying an idea on paper. The purpose is to put useful tools within reach.

A practical, collective effort

The work depends on collaboration with people in Venezuela. Choosing materials, coordinating suppliers, bringing the components together and organising distribution all require attention. My part is to help organise that effort alongside the people working locally.

This project connects my interest in education with a very tangible task. It remains an ongoing initiative, built through the contributions of several people and directed towards a clear, practical goal.

A drawing contest with a QR code

Each kit carries a printed card with a unique QR code. With an adult’s help, a child can upload a drawing without creating any account. I built the small system behind it: a web app on Google Apps Script with a Drive and Sheets backend, and a Python generator for the tokens and the printable cards.

Privacy decided the design. Only a hash of each token is stored, drawings stay private, and permission to publish is asked separately and never assumed. The app has been deployed since September 2026 and the cards are printed.

From a paper card to an optional publication, each step keeps as little as possible. The adult uploads, the system stores a hash, the drawing stays private, and publication needs a separate yes.
